Family Foilboarding: The Joy of Flying Together

Family Foilboarding: The Joy of Flying Together

Foilboarding is a wonderful way to escape the hustle of everyday life. Some people prefer to go out alone to find peace and connect with nature, while others choose to share this special experience with their loved ones.

Making Memories Before College

Paul Yaga, a client from the U.S., had a daughter who was about to leave for college. He came up with the idea to take her foilboarding as a way to spend meaningful time together. "I wanted to thank you for creating Fliteboard. It completely changed my outlook on life and gave me an incredible bonding moment with my daughter before she left for college."What he enjoys most, he says, is "seeing that big smile on her face every single time." Their next plan is a family trip to Kauai, where they hope to ride together again. And Paul’s dog might soon join them too — as he jokes, "She's already balancing on a SUP board. I think she’s getting ready for the eFoil!"

Keeping Family Bonds Strong in Portugal

Rui Vasques from Portugal has been foilboarding with his 12-year-old son since 2022. They started with a Fliteboard PRO, later upgrading to an ULTRA, so they could both ride at the same time. They fly together on the rivers of Cascais and on the dam near Montargil. Rui says: "Foilboarding is my way to disconnect from the daily rush. When I’m on the water with my son, I feel truly free."
Even his 8-year-old daughter can’t wait to try it: "I think soon our whole family will be flying!"

Family Adventures in Norway

Kristina Janke and her family from Norway love foilboarding on the cold northern lakes. “It’s such a special activity — you can be out in the middle of nature, surrounded by fjords, and still share laughter with your kids,” she says. They recently bought a Fliteboard BBTALKIN intercom set so they can chat and listen to music while riding. Kristina usually rides the AIR model, while her son prefers the PRO. They even plan to introduce the grandparents to foilboarding soon — both are in their 70s!

First Flight on the ULTRA

Chris Reynolds was looking for a sport to share with his teenage son. His son loved ball games, but when Chris suggested foilboarding, they both instantly connected with it. "Why not fly instead of play?" his son laughed — and that first ride changed everything.
Now it’s their weekend ritual, and Chris adds with a smile: "Maybe one day, we’ll have our own family foilboarding garage."

Age Is Just a Number

Kevin Holden, one of Flite’s long-time friends, rides regularly with his 70-year-old father.
"My dad’s been my hero all my life, but seeing him learn to foilboard was something else. He was thrilled — it felt incredible to share that experience." Kevin says that the Gold Coast sessions have become their favorite way to reconnect.

A Lifelong Connection in the UK

Tom Cort, a lifelong kite- and foil-surfer, introduced his father Andrew to foilboarding.
"Sharing time on the board together was amazing," Tom recalls. "You can’t talk much while flying, but you share something powerful — joy, balance, and a sense of freedom that stays with you." Tom plans to visit Australia next to ride with other Flite family members.
"Foilboarding isn’t just about the waves — it’s about connection."

Foiling in Italy

The story of Simone and David Troiano, founders of Flite Italy, is one of passion turned into purpose. They met in 2018, fell in love with the sport, and eventually built a business around it. “Foilboarding is about health, joy, and freedom. We’ve seen people of all ages fall in love with it — families, friends, even first-timers.” They often ride together along the Ligurian coast and dream of one day opening their own bay for Flite enthusiasts.

Joy and Healing in Australia

Mick Evans, a Flite partner and instructor at Glide Time, rides every week with his children. He says the sport brought healing and unity to his family after a personal loss: “After my father-in-law passed away, foilboarding helped us reconnect as a family. The laughter, the falls — it all brought us closer together.”

The Freedom of Flight

Foilboarding offers not only the thrill of gliding silently above the water, but also the joy of sharing freedom with the people you love. The memories you create together become priceless — timeless reminders that while children grow and parents age, the ocean always brings families back together.
